Policy and Planning

Ochre and Salt provide a range of policy development, systems design and planning consultancy to meet business needs and achieve regulatory compliance.

Our team have expertise specifically in the areas of mental health, disability and aged care and work with organisations to develop human service policies that are ‘fit-for-purpose’ for their service environments.

We also provide planning support in various areas, including organisational strategic and operational planning services, regional health planning initiatives and facilitation of the development of Reconciliation Action Plans.

Previous and existing projects

Regional Aboriginal Health Service Planning

We facilitated a 3-year health service strategic planning process, using Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learning and yarning tools. Using imagery of ‘Country’ and the idea of ‘health care journeys’ we worked together to develop a strategic plan in a fun and culturally relevant way.

Rural disability strategic and operational planning

We worked with two rural disability and family services organisations to develop local plans that were manageable and informed by local needs. These services were small and ‘niche’ and required a planning approach and final plan that was meaningful and relevant in the local context.

Reconciliation Action Planning

We worked with a Primary Health Network to develop a 3 year RAP in partnership with health care providers and Aboriginal community. The RAP process was inclusive and creative, enabling multiple perspectives, ongoing learning and real action.

Aged Care Quality Management System Development

Working with various aged care providers large and small, we work to develop policy and procedural systems that are compliant with legislation and effective at supporting aged care service delivery. We specialise in policy and procedure development in the community and centre-based aged care space, also providing workforce support and training in the implementation of policies, procedures and care models.
